For someone that says that he is a born again Christian, that relies on Jesus to sustain him DAILY in his walk-- to answer a straightforward question as to when He believes that life begins with "that is above my paygrade" truly highlights what some say about Obama charging him with with being an elitist, arrogant individual. For him to make such a statement to me says that he believes the people he is talking to will accept that as a good answer-basically the people as a whole are ignorant sheep that will buy into whatever someone "in authority" says as gospel. I hope and pray that viewpoint is wrong but looking at what is going on across the nation maybe he is correct.
Let's break it down a little here. Obama indicates that his core beliefs are based deeply in the constitution and in his christian beliefs. For the purpose of this discussion I will go to those 2 areas for guidance on what they have to say about this question:
1. One of the most basic and over riding priciples our founders held important enough to put down in writing was the individual right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness as long as exercising that right does not infringe on another individuals ability to enjoy that same right. Well, ending the birth of a baby seems to me to be a clear cut case of a direct assault on that baby's rights before it even has a chance to get out of the gate.
2. As a christian we all learn the 10 commandments. Not to long a list for a halfway intelligent person to grasp. You'd think the leader of the largest christian nation in the free world who professes to be a born again christian would be intelligent enough to grasp them fairly quickly; but lets just look at the one relevant to this question, you know the one that says "thou shall not kill" or more specifically( Thou Shalt Not Commit Murder). Seems to me it would be a very easy argument that ending the birth of a totally innocent and completely helpless baby would be murder (pretty easy concept to grasp) if not I really can't think of another example more compelling.
3. Since Obama says that he relies on Jesus to guide him in his daily walk lets take a look at what Jesus taught the early church concerning children:
Jesus' teachings concerning children were faithfully followed by the early church, which believed that to receive a child in the name of Christ was to receive Christ Himself. Admonitions against the pagan practices of abortion and child abandonment were found in the earliest Christian writings. The Epistle of Barnabas commanded: Thou shalt not slay the child by procuring abortion; nor again, shalt thou destroy it after it is born. Thou shalt not withdraw thy hand from thy son, or from thy daughter, but from their infancy thou shalt teach them the fear of the Lord.
It took me all of 10 minutes to
research and find an authority site that gives insight for christians on how abortion should be viewed.
For someone that is promoting himself for the position as the spokesperson for a country that the majority believe to have been founded on Judeo Christian priciples and blessed by GOD himself to prosper it amazes me that Obama has the chops to go out on a daily basis and say that he is what this country is crying out for... It just doesn't add up!
