Specter told Newsweek nineteen days ago that he'd never consider switching parties:
Newsweek: Would you consider running as an independent. Specter: No. Newsweek: No? Definitely not? Specter: I'm a Republican and I'm going to run in the Republican primary and on the Republican ticket. Newsweek:
We talked to Governor Rendell who said that the running joke is that
you could easily become a Democrat and if you did, the framework in the
state would make things very easy for you. Specter: I'm not considering it |
I'm sure that talking heads and politicians at large will not want to feel boxed in by actually truthfully answer the question when asked if Specter is a liar. I imagine that they will come up with some slick sounding euphemism along the lines of ...well it is hard to tell what is in his mind blah blah blah---
Painful decision my eye~~~ Arlen Specter is just one more example of
what the true motivation of many in the house and senate is all about,
[
power] and why the American people are so angry and fed up.
His
statement: "in the course of the last several months since the stimulus
vote, I have traveled the state and surveyed the sentiments of the
Republican Party in Pennsylvania and public opinion polls, observed
other public opinion polls and have found that the prospects for
winning a Republican primary are bleak."
So He tested the wind--
and the climate for retaining his seat of power looked "bleak" so he
decides to: in essence say "everything that I have done in the last few
decades" can be cast aside now because the people that put me in this
powerful position, no longer have confidence in my ability to represent
them. I will turn
traitor to the ideals and people I have used to
remain in power and join the team that I think will give me the
opportunity to remain in my position of power.
What a great
example of politicians that have no core values of representing the
wishes of those they supposedly represent. It is all about "ME" and I
will say and do whatever it takes to keep "ME" going.
Just sickening to watch.
Lets cut to it- as documented above, specter emphatically denied that he would run as an independent and that he would not consider running as a democrat, that he is and always has been a republican and will run as such in the upcoming elections.
HE IS A OUT AND OUT BOLD FACE LIAR-PERIOD-END OF STORY!!! In my judgment and opinion.
That being said good riddance and I hope snowe and otheres of similar ilk quickly follow his lead. The democratic party, in my opinion, is an absolutely appropriate dumping ground for elected officials that have no moral fiber and cannot bring themselves to truly represent the people instead of their own self interest. I am sure that there are plenty more RINO's hiding in the bushes that would feel quite at home there.
If standing for and representing conservative values does not result in the obtaining of a position of power in the government to represent that portion of society, then so be it. I truly hope and pray that it hasn't come to the point where conservative and christian values have no home in this land. I fear that the moochers may be growing in numbers to the point that the only thing that will see the re emergence of those values is; what is so clearly laid out in the story "atlas shrugged".
On a positive note; there are reports that the book is seeing a huge re incarnation. If so, maybe enough clear minded folks reading it will see and hear the peril of what our government is doing right now, (that could have come direct from those prophetic pages) and will take action to ensure such a terrible event never comes to pass in our country.
